The Lahore High Court was formed on March 21, 1919 under Section 175 (2) of the 1973 Constitution, which sets out the basic principles of the jurisdiction of the High Court. The High Court is essentially located in Lahore, but has three other Benches in different cities. from Pakistan, namely Multan, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur. All of these Benches were incorporated on January 1, 1981 by order of the LHC. A motion has been made to set up more Benches in Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and D.Khan cities.
